Women of the LAPD

Ongoing training and continued education are vital parts of law enforcement that help broaden horizons and positively impact communities. With an array of occasions throughout the year, LAWPOA members have several opportunities to expand knowledge and grow tactical and practical expertise.

LAWPOA offers various training symposiums and programs that help advance careers, improve cultural diversity, and enhance situational awareness in the field. We also continue to promote outside training that supports memberships and promotes POST credit for valuable skills.

One of the major events we continue to encourage member attendance at is the Women Leadership in Law Enforcement (WLLE) Symposium as well as various other seminars for career advancement.

Comprehensive Training Opportunities

Knowledge is power, and our members deserve robust programs and every opportunity to absorb information that enhances productivity, eliminates inefficiencies, and helps accomplish individual career goals.

LAWPOA oversees comprehensive training programs including:

An annual professional development symposium

Grant-sponsored cultural diversity training
3 or more mentor training sessions for the department

Additionally, we offer a training reimbursement program that returns up to $250 to members who meet specific criteria.
